A TASTE OF CUBA CULINARY TOUR

Cuba: Enjoy every bite!

           

Day 1 – Saturday: Rendezvous in Miami

  • Arrival at Miami’s International Airport

  • Check in to Miami International Airport Hotel (Dinner on your own)

 

Day 2 – Sunday: Say hello to Cuba

  • Depart Miami for Havana's José Martí International Airport

  • Meet your tour leader, guide and drivers (Classic cars!)

  • Transfer to your hotel/casa in Havana

  • Enjoy a leisurely walk around Habana Vieja

  • Meet for a Daiquiri at La Floridita – made famous by Ernest Hemingway

  • Dinner at Paladar O’Brien (Chef presentation?)

 

Day 3 – Monday: Getting to know Old Havana

  • Breakfast at 5 Equinas

  • Walking tour of Old Havana and the four main squares

  • Workshop with Dr. Marta Núñez – educational exchange with guests?

  • Lunch at Café del Oriente

  • Tour Castillo el Morro (the cannon blast is at 9:00 PM nightly)

  • Dinner and Cabaret at the world famous Tropicana Cabaret

 

Day 4 – Tuesday:  Organoponico Vivero Alamar

  • Breakfast

  • Visit an innovative cooperative organic farm – Vivero Alamar

  • Meet with Farm Operator Isis Maria Salcines and her father, Executive Director Miguel Salcines Lopez, as we tour the most successful organic farm in Cuba.

  • Prepare to work! Pick, clean and prepare vegetables, fruits, etc. for an experiential lunch experience. Join Chef Marilyn along with farm staff as you prepare an unbelievable dining experience.

  • Enjoy a presentation by our hosts on the evolution of farming in Cuba. From pre-Russian influence, the “Special Period”, and today’s successful business.

  • Dinner at Restaurant Chabon

 

Day 5 – Wednesday: Hemingway, Revolution Museum, Arts

  • Breakfast

  • Visit the National Revolution Museum

  • Visit Hemingway’s Finca Vigia

  • Lunch at La Terraza in Cojimar (supposedly where Hemingway ate)

  • Tour the Colon Cemetery

  • Visit Callejon de Hamel and special art displays

  • Culinary demonstration and dinner at Paladar Dona Eutimia

  • Dance to the music of the Buena Vista Social Club

 

Day 6 – Thursday: Las Terrazas & Vinales

  • Breakfast

  • Departure to Las Terrazas eco-community

  • Visit ancient coffee plantation

  • Opportunity for birding and plant identification

  • Lunch at Casa del Campesino and an “open-fire” cooking demonstration

  • Swim in the Rio San Juan (time permitting)

  • Meet with local artists and discuss their work

  • Continue to Vinales for overnight casa or hotel

  • Dinner at Bar Las 3 Jotas in Vinales

 

Day 7 – Friday: Natural Cuba - bird watching and more…

  • Breakfast

  • Early morning photography of the mogotes in Vinales Valley.

  • Saddle up for a horseback or carriage tour of the mogotes

  • Learn the Cuban art of cooking “fresh from the farm” BBQ and vegetables at Finca Agroecologica El Paraiso.

  • Relaxing evening in Vinales. Dinner?

 

Day 8 –Saturday: Return to Havana

  • Breakfast

  • Drive to Havana and Santa Maria Beach or Cayo Levisa near Vinales

  • Swim, listen to jazz, shop, dance…

  • Farewell Dinner at Paladar Los Mercadores

 

Day 9 – Sunday: Say goodbye to Cuba

  • Breakfast at hotel

  • Transfer to Havana’s José Martí International airport

Program includes:

  • All accommodations with breakfast (7 nights)
